Vegan Versus Standard Condoms!
Vegan versus standard condoms. Why should you make the switch to vegan? Let me count the reasons, 1) standard condoms are tested on animals. If you are an animal lover as I am this is reason enough not to use. 2)They also contain animal by-products in the form of milk casein which is a form of curdled milk. This could be problematic for anyone with a dairy allergy. Finally, the lubricants on the standard condoms are chemically based. This is probably the most important reason to consider going vegan (as if the others were not enough). These chemicals are the primary cause of women experiencing vaginal dryness and/or irritation.
Many women think they have a latex allergy when it is most likely the chemicals in condoms such as parabens, spermicide, etc., that are causing their reaction. In particular, the spermicide Nonoxynol-9 (which is a type of detergent used to kill sperm and STD-causing pathogens). Nonoxynol – 9 can’t decipher between the good guys and the bad guys. So with repeated use, Nonoxynol-9 will start killing the skin cells of the vaginal and rectal walls. This, in turn, makes someone more susceptible to urinary tract infections and STDs.
